Over the thousands of musical styles on the web, when I came across in the 'Shawn James style & The Shapeshifters’ I could not help but to reflect and deepen, and as the’ instinct always wisely to discover it was a succession of sounds and beautiful trips in different aspects. Already named 'Shapeshifters’ che appunto significa 'mutaforma’ questi ragazzi originari dell’ Arkansas, tutti polistrumentisti (in addition to guitars, basso, piano e batteria, use the banjo sounds, mandolin, violins, harmonica etc.) that with a radical approach (but also playful), enthusiast, sensibile e vigoroso spaziano dal Rock Blues ottimamente realizzato, the rougher rock (stoner e hard), sfiorando il folk, il gospel e prendendo a piene mani dal soul, portano con la loro musica in molte ambientazioni suggestive di album in album. Testi descrittivi, comunicativi e anche con molte metafore fanno esternare al frontman Shawn James, a direct voice, pulita e toccante in pezzi come ‘Midnight Dove’ e dei ruggiti profondi e carnali in canzoni come ‘Eating Like Kings’ to go to become a sweet, pacato ed emozionante narratore di cupe fiabe in ‘The Thief and the Moon’ . Tra i miei brani preferiti vi è sicuramente inoltre, il blues splendido di ‘Trough to the Valley’ il cui testo è una tormentosa poesia carica di commozione.
